The simple joy of flip flops!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:35 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “The simple joy of flip flops.” I’ve reached a time in my life when I want to take life a bit slower and easier. I especially want to take most matters less seriously. And informality is something I want in pretty much every area of my life — church, work, travel, meals or other day-to-day activities.

Are you wondering what flip flops has to do with this? So is my husband! :-)

Have a great week folks!

Why lie?

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:08 pm by Annette

Good morning friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “Why lie?” Some say that lying is an unavoidable part of human nature, but does this make telling a lie acceptable, excusable and always forgivable?

I wonder if any of us can honestly say we have never told a lie. I certainly can’t!

What are you looking for?

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:48 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

This week’s week’s column is titled “What are you looking for?” I can’t help but think that perhaps our attitudes and perceptions can impact and change an outcome and change it for the better.

A recent photograph a friend posted on Facebook has given me reason to reexamine my approach to some daring goals. If you’re on Facebook and one of my Facebook friends, perhaps you recall seeing it. :-)

Have a great week,

Annette

There’s always more to a story

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:47 pm by Annette

Hello there friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “There’s always more to a story.” Living in an age where participation on social networking websites such as Facebook are an active part of our day, we get a glimpse of how many of us are reacting and responding to national and world events. And lately, I’ve been thinking about how quickly we seem to form an opinion.

If you’re like me, you know better than to jump to conclusions. But perhaps you’re like me and sometimes find it too easy to make that jump! :-)

Have a great week folks!

Talking past each other

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:45 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “Talking past each other.” Do you ever feel like you and your spouse are talking past each other? It’s certainly easy to conclude that our politicians on the so-called “right” and “left” talk past each other constantly!

Talking past each other often becomes a vicious cycle. But there is something that at least some of us can do to break the cycle! I’m sure going to try to break my own cycle!

Have a great week folks! :-)

Where the heart is

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:13 pm by Annette

Good morning friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “Where the heart is.” It has been written, “Home is where the heart is.” Interestingly enough, trying to understand exactly where my heart is or what my heart is longing for, could describe the reason why I went to Italy.

Have a great day!

A world without borders

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:12 pm by Annette

Hello friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “A world without borders.” And you guessed it. It’s another Italy lesson! :-)

As I sat down on the plane, I immediately wrote in my journal: “Enlarge the border of thy tent. I have a feeling I will be learning the meaning of these words.”

And so I did. Or at least I began to learn what these words mean!

Happy week to all,

Annette

Give me that mountaintop view!

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:27 am by Annette

Hey family and friends,

This week’s column is titled “Give me that mountaintop view!” The butterflies and anxiety I felt before boarding the gondola left almost immediately as I stepped foot on the mountain. With every step, I gained an air of calm, confidence, composure, equanimity and self-assurance that I’ve never felt before.

Yes, it’s another column about Italy! I hope you’re not getting tired of hearing about Italy. I can’t stop thinking about being there!!

Some of you have probably seen this photo already, but here is a link of a picture of me on top of Monte Baldo. :-) All of my Italy photos are posted on Facebook and in the scrapbook section of my website.

Have a great week,

Annette

Is balance really achievable?

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:53 am by Annette

Hi there friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “Is balance really achievable?” (Another lesson from my travels to Italy!) It isn’t difficult to understand why our days could feel off-balance if they are missing something that we feel is essential to our happiness, peace-of-mind, or well-being.

Lighten your load!

Reportedly, overpacking is the biggest travel mistake as well as the biggest life mistake we all make at times. But our life need not be backbreaking!!

Ciao Bella!
