When we don’t see eye to eye

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:36 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

Good morning!

This week’s column is titled “When we don’t see eye to eye.” Should we be angered that a neighbor or a brother has a completely different stance and viewpoint on an issue — an issue equally important to both of us?

For the record, this is something that I’m still very much working on. I had an epiphany in writing this column. Now comes the test of putting what I’ve realized into practice.

:-)

Have a great week!

Good temptations

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:34 pm by Annette

Hi there friends and family,

I hope you all are enjoying the beginning of Autumn as much as I am. I accomplished a major fall cleaning of my house while John was away on a fishing trip to Oregon and Idaho. He arrived home on Monday evening. Yeah!

And this week is all about preparing for the last Western Trade Days in Tioga this Saturday. If you’re in the Dallas area, you are invited to attend. The Trade Days, I’m sure I’ve said to all of you before, is a fundraiser for the Tioga Heritage Museum. It is the 4th Saturday, each month April - September. We’ll be celebrating Gene Autry’s 102nd birthday with complimentary cake in the Museum. The cake is my very favorite - strawberry cake baked by Mom’s Bakery in Sherman. Yummy!

We’ll have live music all day from 9 AM - 4 PM. So if you come you may want to bring your own lawn chair. There is a Dallas Cowboy merchandise raffle with over a dozen awesome gift items. The raffle will take place at 4 PM in the music tent. There are dozens of unique vendors. I plan to get started on my Christmas shopping. The school band will have a hot dog stand and the Ladies Auxiliary will have a bake sale. And be sure to get a glass of fresh blueberry lemonade from the drink station on the Museum front porch.

This week’s column is titled “Good temptations.” Whether we call it a hunch, a vibe or a feeling in our bones, we all have an innate spiritual intuition that would point us in the right direction if only heeded.

Have a great week folks! And I hope to see some of you this weekend!

Are you dreading the days ahead?

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:32 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

Do you have days you don’t look forward to? Or do you have days you dread with every fiber of your being? Today is one of those days for me. (I wrote these words this past Sunday.)

For those of you who have time to comment, I’d love to hear how any of you have survive difficult days. It would be nice if you share your wisdom and lessons learned with others. You can comment on my website at www.annettebridges (as soon as my niece gets my blog updated) or better yet, comment on my column at the Dallas www.examiner.com website as soon as I get my column posted there. I will get it up sometime today hopefully. Or shoot me an email and tell me if okay with you that I share your comments and I’ll see if I can add your comments for you.

Have a great week folks! :-)

Love,

Annette

Don’t let Debbie Downer get you down

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:57 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “Don’t let Debbie Downer get you down.” There seems to be one in every crowd — the naysayer, the voice of doom, the predictor of bad tidings. And she or he generally shares a depressed view of the world with everyone they meet.

If you never saw a “Debbie Downer” skit on Saturday Night Live, below is a link:

Have a happy week and don’t let anything or anyone get you down! :-)

Love,

Annette

Who says you can’t go back?

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:54 pm by Annette

Dear friends and family,

This week’s column is titled “Who says you can’t go back?” The desire to go back doesn’t mean I expect or want things to be the same. But there is comfort in going back to what is familiar.

It’s beginning to feel like Autumn - a wee bit cooler temps and football! Yeah!

Have a great week,

Annette
