This column was inspired from watching the opening ceremony for the Olympics.
Sometimes it’s difficult to imagine mutual respect, acceptance or even tolerance among the many cultures of our world. And yet despite the differences that I was certain existed in political and social philosophies, I saw unity of purpose in the eyes of each and every athlete.

My column this week was inspired by an email I received from a friend recently. You know who you are and I thank you for sharing it with me! 
It’s titled “Don’t miss a thing!” It seems some scientists say human beings have a curious capacity to take things for granted. I know there are many things that have become routine and expected in my life. How about in yours?
